Nigel Hawke’s Thorne Farm Racing Blog 08 August 2017
It has been a quiet week here at Thorne Farm with no jump racing but there’s lots going on in the yard. All of the horses are back in and are big and fat, it’s going to be a hard couple of months getting them back into shape, this consists of lots of walking and trotting then loads of steady work up the gallops. This is hard work for the horses and riders because the staff have been on holiday as well and they need to get into shape also. There a few races next week and we have entries at Newton Abbot one being Patsy Oriel who is a nice big horse from Ireland and is the winner of a point to point, he will probably need the run to sharpen him up. We also have Buffalo Sabre who is racing in the novice chase and is coming back after a wind op and finally we have Calin Du Brizais racing, he is in the same race as Buffalo Sabre and has got a great record around Newton Abbot. Atlantic King is entered at Bangor over fences, he jumps very well and hopefully it should bring about some improvement in him.
