Nigel Hawke’s Thorne Farm Racing Blog 19 March 2018

Last week was quite a busy week for Thorne farm, we had 4 runners at Taunton which included Georgina joy, Deckers Delight, Lord Ballim and Sienna Royal. Unfortunately, the ground was very testing and just caught our horses out. Sienna Royal who is half-sister to Pearl Royale ran extremely well considering this was her first run, she will learn a lot from this race and is a very exciting prospect for the yard.

On Tuesday we had 2 runners at Sedgefield, Take A Break who finished 2nd and Lady Mix who finished 3rd. Both horses ran very well and just unlucky not to get their heads in front.

On Saturday Point N Shoot travelled to Fontwell to finish 2nd, he ran extremely well and was unlucky to make a mistake 2 from home which got him out of his rhythm and made things harder to try and get in front.

Meanwhile we all had a fun week watching Cheltenham in the afternoons in between doing evening stables. All the staff did five horses to follow, putting £5 into the pot. We accumulated £50 in total in which Poul and Kieren jointly won.

we also took great advantage of our all-weather round canter which enabled us to get plenty of horses schooled over hurdles. Eddie has been busy and has made new double-sided hurdles which allows us to school in both directions without having to do lots of moving around.

This week we have quite a few entries which include, Alminar, Le Musee, Ballymagroarty Boy, Camron De Chaillac, Tequila Secret and Greybougg. Fingers crossed the weather will not get in our way again as we have had some snow over the weekend.
