Nigel Hawke’s Thorne Farm Racing Blog- Friday 6th July 2018

Share

This week has been extremely busy for the team at Thorne Farm. Nigel and Katherine took a trip over to France for the Lumet Show sales in search of future prospects. The trip was very successful purchasing 3 well bred 2yr olds by the stallions Balko who is the same sire as Lord Ballim, Top Trip and Boris De Deauville. All 3 horses have very strong pages and they are all available for sale to stay in the yard.

On Monday 14 horses came back in from their summer holidays and all of them have summered well. Monday afternoon was all systems go with getting them backed and walking in our sand school whilst our farrier was busy getting shoes on them all ready for a few weeks of road walking. All have behaved so far, and we haven’t had too many fresh ones.

Next week we have a few runners. On Sunday Farmer boy and Rejaah are going to Market Rasen, Rejaah will be making her appearance back over fences. On Monday Nachi Falls heads to Worcester to run in a Handicap Hurdle. Calin Du Brizais is making a reappearance at Uttoxeter on Tuesday after his unlucky run at Newton Abbot in a Handicap Hurdle with his partner Kieren Buckley our yard Amateur. Kieren will also be partnering Lord Ballim on Friday at Ffos Las. Nigel says ‘all horses go into their races next week in with a chance, fingers crossed we could have a successful week’.

Arcadio/ Regents Ballerina– Strong gelding by a sire that’s getting lots of bumper winners, he’s a half-brother to two winners and from the family of the mighty Regents Pride and has a lot of scope, should be a lovely horse in time.

Kayf Tara/ Brackets – Very sharp forward going filly by the very successful Kayf Tara. Closely related to Pure Faith who was listed and grade two placed. She’s very athletic and will come to hand quickly
