Nigel Hawke’s Thorne Farm Racing Blog – Friday 30th November 2018

On Saturday our yard stable star Speredek finally got to make his appearance for the first time this season at Ascot. The ground was finally going his way as it has been too firm for him to run prior to Saturday. The long wait certainly paid off as he ran a fantastic race in the ‘Gerard Bertrand Hurst Park Handicap Chase’ (Class 2). Speredek ridden by Tom Cannon led a strong pace and kept on well to finish 2nd only to be beaten a length.

On Tuesday The Boola Bee went to Lingfield for the ‘Davies Insurance Services Mares Handicap Chase’. Ridden by David Noonan she was settled out the back, she ran very well to finish 3rd with only 3 lengths between her and 2nd place.

On Wednesday we had Some Detail head to Hereford for the ‘Magic of Sri Lanka Standard Open National Hunt Flat Race’. This was his first run for our yard having come from the Irish Point to Point field. Partnered by Sean Bowen he ran brilliantly to finish 2nd with only 3 lengths between himself and 1st place. He would have learnt a lot from this run and we look forward to watching him next time out.

We have a few upcoming entries with Le Musee at Newbury tomorrow in the ‘Ladbrokes Handicap Hurdle’. We also have another of our stable stars running this weekend with Pearl Royale entered on Sunday at Carlisle in the ‘Smarkets Betting Exchange Houghton Mares chase’ (Listed Race). On Wednesday we have Ballymagroarty Boy entered at Haydock for the ‘ Watch Racing UK in HD Conditional Jockey’s Handicap Hurdle’. Thursday we have Point N Shoot at Market Rasen for the Handicap Hurdle.
