Nigel Hawke’s Thorne Farm Racing Blog.

Taunton on Monday was the place to be as the enigmatic Le Musee put his best foot forward and showed a clean pair of heels to his rivals ,well ridden by our stable amateur Kieran Buckley so all credit to him, he jumped really well and quickened off the home turn to win eased down by twelve lengths.
It was Kieran’s first winner under rules for us and second altogether.
Stormy Blues ran a great race finishing second only beaten a neck at Lingfield last week over a mile and two furlongs on the flat, he’s a lovely horse who’s been unlucky as he had a life threatening injury last year that most horses wouldn’t have come back from and has been called a few names by a certain jockey no names mentioned (D Cook) but he seems to be coming good at last.
The cancellation of all racing by the BHA has put a stop to our trot, we had a stack of certainty’s due to run and they all would have definitely won, at least that’s what we told the owners.
Although it’s a very serious matter there is a hint of overreaction attached to the BHAs statement.
They know the yard in question and the horses involved so why not test the horses that ran on the day and shut down those yards in question until it’s sorted and let the rest of us get on with it.
We deal with equine flu on a regular basis and by isolating and treating the sick horses with antibiotics it can be monitored and contained.
Stable hygiene is a must and you’d be surprised how many trainers don’t like to adhere to.
