Nigel Hawke’s Thorne Farm Racing

Blog –

Friday 22nd March 2019

Taunton is our local course and we love to have winners there and that was the case on Tuesday.

Lamh Ar Lamh (which incidentally means hand in hand) won the last race of the day eased down by five lengths, it was the owners first winner with their first horse so that added to the excitement. She was ridden by our conditional jockey Tom Buckley who has now reduced his claim to seven and it was this very race last year that Tom had his first ever ride so he’s done really well in a short time. Lamh Ar Lamh is very tough and consistent and although she’s not the greatest horse in the world she’s done her owner proud and will win more races now she’s got her head in front, she could possibly run again on Tuesday at Hereford.

Nice to see the BHA have seen sense and quashed the ban on Declan Lavery after the NH chase at Cheltenham last week, I think a large dose of common sense would work wonders and sort out most of the issues they seem to be having, at least they’re willing to listen to the people who know so that’s a positive step in the right direction.
