Nigel Hawke’s Thorne Farm Racing
Friday 21st June 2019
All ok here at Thorne Farm, the weathers unpredictable as usual and the ground is soft everywhere.
Ascot this week was full of surprises and some fantastic racing, it’s flat racing at its most brilliant and definitely the flat equivalent of the Cheltenham festival.
Frankie Dettori said he wouldn’t be happy unless he rode five winners for the week and with two days to go he’s already done that, the last jockey to ride four winner in a day was the one and only L Piggott and Frankie did that yesterday, that’s what I call a cocky jockey. He’s the best we’ve seen since Nigel retired and we should savour him while we can although I’m not a fan of the flying dismount the racing public love it.
Le Musee makes his debut over fences at Ffos las next week after a flat campaign and we’re really looking forward to it, he seems a natural at home so let’s hope he transfers it to the course, he’s a high class horse and some day he will show everyone how good he is.
