The whip debate rumbles on and Mr Fellows hasn’t helped it any with his comments a few days after having a winner at Royal Ascot.

Apparently he would have gladly accepted losing the race by disqualification because of a breach of the whip rules by Haley Turner, in an age when everyone is trying hard to promote racing in a good light he sabotages it all by being totally irresponsible with his comments.

l would have loved to seen his face and the owners faces if that did happen right after the race while all the cameras and press were hanging on his every word.

Haley Turner broke the rules and paid the price but if she got beat a neck because she didn’t use her stick enough everyone would be saying she’s only a girl and a stronger jockey would have won on it.

The whip rules are fine as they are and racing now is better attended than ever especially Royal Ascot and Cheltenham, whip infringements are at a minimum but there will always be complaints.

Don’t let people that don’t care about horses or racing ruin racing.

Rant over here’s a picture of Pomme and her first foal to calm everyone down. He’s a cracker.

It’s been a great couple of weeks since the last blog,

Flints Legacy won after promising to do so many times, she’s been hard to train to say the least. Over the last four seasons she’s only run ten times and had various problems on the way but last week she battled hard to win over fences at Cartmel and hopefully can build on that now, incidentally that was our first winner at Cartmel.

It was a great performance by the team to get her there and very satisfying to finally see her win.

Most of the horses that were having a summer break are back in now and they look great there’s plenty of nice new horses to look forward to and also the old favourites like Speredek and Pearl Royal are back in again.

It’s great to have a break but better to get busy again with some nice horses to run there’s a real buzz about the yard.

As predicted Le Musee romped to victory at Ffos Las on Wednesday, given a very positive ride by David Noonan he absolutely hacked up by seventeen lengths with his ears pricked.

The only worry we had was would he transfer his schooling at home to the track, plenty of horses jump really well at home but then in a race they panic and get all out of rhythm and it all becomes a bad experience. History is littered with top class hurdlers that didn’t achieve anything near their best over fences. At least Le Musee seemed to really enjoy the experience and hopefully he can build on that.

Joint owners Gerry and Beverley Flanagan made the trip and we’re over the moon with their horse, he has now won twenty seven thousand prize money not bad for a horse that cost three grand.

We are planning an assault on Cartmel this weekend with possibly four runners.

The way our horses are running at the moment we’ve got to be hopeful, they’ve all got chances so let’s keep the good run going.

All ok here at Thorne Farm, the weathers unpredictable as usual and the ground is soft everywhere.

Ascot this week was full of surprises and some fantastic racing, it’s flat racing at its most brilliant and definitely the flat equivalent of the Cheltenham festival.

Frankie Dettori said he wouldn’t be happy unless he rode five winners for the week and with two days to go he’s already done that, the last jockey to ride four winner in a day was the one and only L Piggott and Frankie did that yesterday, that’s what I call a cocky jockey. He’s the best we’ve seen since Nigel retired and we should savour him while we can although I’m not a fan of the flying dismount the racing public love it.

Le Musee makes his debut over fences at Ffos las next week after a flat campaign and we’re really looking forward to it, he seems a natural at home so let’s hope he transfers it to the course, he’s a high class horse and some day he will show everyone how good he is.
