Nigel Hawke’s Thorne Farm Racing Blog 12 May 2017

We had four runners at Newton Abbot on Wednesday, three in the first race, a mares novice hurdle. Pomme was our most fancied but she hung very badly right and was pulled up. It was a bit of a mystery because she’s never done anything like that before and she’s won left handed at Weatherby so we’re at a loss to explain it. The main thing is she’s fine after the race and will be out again very soon, probably on a right handed track. The other two in that race were Phoenix Firebird and Njorls Saga who finished fourth and fifth, we are very pleased with both of them. Lake Placid ran in the other novice and will benefit from the experience. Next week is fairly quiet at least up to the weekend when we might have entries at Uttoxeter and Bangor but we need some rain!

Pomme didn’t have a much luck at Newton Abbot on Wednesday
