Picking A Winner – Tiger Roll
Click on the image above to hear the Tiger Roll Story – The little horse with a huge heart – A fantastic feature by @gabrielclarke05 on Tiger Roll, who emulated Red Rum with back-to-back Grand National wins in 2018 and 2019.
The story is testament to Nigel’s skill at spotting a winner. Tiger Roll had never jumped a hurdle when he was bought at auction for £10,000 in November 2013 and was sold 3 month’s later for £80,000 after winning for Thorne Farm Racing at Market Rasen.
Why buy a racehorse and get involved with racing?
We want to help you turn the dream of owning a racehorse into a reality, which can be done in many ways.
A sole partnership is a popular and straightforward way to enjoy the thrill of racing, this is where you own your horse completely, get to travel over the country to watch your horse race and to enjoy the sport of kings.
Racing was typically seen as a sport for the elite, however with the increase in syndicates and partnerships, the possibilities of getting involved with racehorse ownership are becoming limitless. Being in a syndicate allows you and a group of your friends, or even strangers to enjoy the thrill of racing and ownership together.
There are also corporate advantages to owning a racehorse. Your horse can be named after and dressed in your company colours, to advertise and promote your company. Furthermore, the crowds in the owner’s area at racing events typically have large disposable incomes which means owning a racehorse then provides you with a lucrative opportunity to access this audience. As a company you can wine and dine clients with a day out at the races and further benefit from the tax deductions of owning a racehorse under a corporate partnership.
Why choose us?
Not only do we have an exceptional eye for talent, but we have a strong philosophy of communication. Having a racehorse shouldn’t mean selected timeslots to see your horse, vague updates and hardly any time, if any, to talk to your trainer.
At Thorne Farm we work hard to ensure that our owners never become ‘one of the numbers’. We aim to create an expertly tailored experience consisting of a hands-on approach to racing and regular and open communication with your horse’s trainer.
We are proud to have a 250 acre organic farm which allows us more independence from larger yards. We are consistently enhancing our facilities which in turn enables us to compete with the facilities of larger yards.
We have an ‘arms wide open’ policy towards owners and hope that we can welcome you into our family.
